FRIDAY. JUNE . 1817. A LIBERTY LOAN MESSAGE TO AMERCA'S WOMEN (By Mr. Antoinette Funk, Vice Chairman of the Woman's Lib erty Loan Committee.) Washington, June 8. (Written for the United Press) Since the govern fnent has called upon the women to five their sons for our country's life the Women's Loan Committee dares to call upon them to help supply the Money to sustain those sons. The purpose of the Liberty Loan is to give funds to the government so that it can conduct this war for Lib erty and Democracy in an efficient manner. The quicker this money is supplied, the quicker will come the end of the war with its consequent saving of human lite. The denomina tions of the bonds are as low as $50 mad the payments are easy. A sub scriber can pay cash if she wants to but she does not have to. A Liberty Bond should be in every home. Be cause so far as we have been remote from the scene of war, we are in clined, like the foolish ostrich, to hide our heads in the sand, not realizing, not believing, closing our eyes to the actual threats of danger that are here No man liveth to himself alone and the time is here when no nation liv eth to itself alone. We are bound up in the warp and woof of nations, a part of the fabric. The welfare of one is the welfare of all. The gigantic struggle that has been going on in Europe for almost three years, is not a struggle to settle boundaries, not to gain revenge for old disputes. It is a war to establish the right to life and liberty. It is war against aw mine ss. It is a war against the creed of hate. It is a war in defence of weak peeople. It is a protest against the savagery that sent the Lusttania to the bottom. It is our notice served upon the world that the high seas are free to the world. It is a notice to the world that we and our neighbors in this hemisphere will not tolerate that the oppressor s foot be sent upon our shores. It is for the honor and safe ty of our women. It is for a safe and Iree home for our children. The only nation under the sun which was born a democracy is carrying her doctrine of democracy to the uttermost parts of the earth. As women have always helped, they must help now. Their first great task is lending out of their fullness that the war of righteousness upon which America is now emerged shall result in a glorious past and a glorious free dom and that the generations that come after us may indeed call us blessed. Every woman's first duty is to buy a Liberty Bond. If a woman cannot buy a bond, it is her duty to persuade other women who can do so. WOUNDED THREE TIMES. HE WANTS REVENGE London, June 8.
