Remnants of the armiet of Lee and Jackson marched into Washington today, playing "Dixie." and soundinK the rebel yelL And the capitol. tenae under the stress of waging war. welcomed the Confederate veterans with cheering enthusiasm. ' Thousands of old soldiers attend ed the twenty-seventh annual reunion of the United Confederate Veteran and its affiliated organizations. The great plaia fronting the Union depot was converted into a tented field, where many of the veterans stopped. This is the first reunion to be held oat of Dixie. With a very light run of cattle here yesterday the market was very active and prices were steady to 25 cents higher on most all classes. This it the first up run for the last two weeks. While large killers were not in the market for supplies to amount to anything, butcher demand took up practically all the offerings. Best beef steers sold from $975 to $10.25. with a bunch of baby beef at $10.00. Fair to good steers sold from $9.00 to $9.50. Steers with little killing qual ity are ttill having a very slow call, although practically everything got away with a good steady bid com pared with last week's close. Common thin jersey steers told from $6.00 to $7.50 with medium grades from $7 JO to $8.50. She ttuff wat in very good demand and told readily. Beit cows brought $825 to $8.50 with heifert up to $9.00. Good beef cowl brought around $8.00 with fair dairy bred cows bringing from $7.25 to $7.75. Ordinary cowt sold from $6.50 to $7.00; with common stuff from $5.00 to $6.00. Best heavy bulls sold most ly at $7.50 with a top of $8.25; light built sold from $6.0 Oto $7.00. Hogs The hog market continued its downward trend yesterday, with pric es ranging from steady to 15 cents lower. Outside demand was an im portant factor. Some of the large kill ers still continued bearish. Several loads of prime hogs brought $1570, while the bulk sold from $1525 to $15.40. Pigs sold mostly at $130n with a few sales at $13.50 to $14.00. Sheep Sheep receipt! are beginning to come in a fair volume, although, en tirely from the Willamette Valley and California. Spring lambs are selling mostly at $13 50 and $1375, 'with shorn ycsrlings fro m$10.50 to Sl 1 .25 . Good heavy shorn ewes bringing from $9.00 to $975, no light ewes being offered. One bunch of fair thorn wool yearlings brottgh' 14275. Demand continues very good sad price are alt on a strong batit. Money is just as essential as men in the successful prosecution of any war.
