It was built by the city in order to get the county seat away from Union and rented to the county for $1 a year for 15 years, which will be up next year. In the meantime both the city and county refuse to keep it in repair. Stopped at the famous Foley hotel, where green ink is used, and Pat has numerous other green tendencies. A Salem company, among them a brother of Ab Minton, are guarding the railroad yards. At Enterprise ex Judge Chas. Bilycu. now a prosperous farmer, is a prominent resident, liked by everybody. He has a farm of 600 acres only a mile of two out, going to it daily in his auto, returning even for his lunch. He has 450 acres of wheaet in, 250 fall, 200 spring, in fine condition. As wheat up there yields 30 to 40 bushels an acre, it is easy to spell future prosperity for this nat ive son of Albany. A decidedly pleasant experience was meeting Miss Olmstead, a former May queen of Albany College, leav ing there in 1912. for Washington University, from which she graduat ed, on the train, going to Wallowa, to assist in a concert. She had her ukelele and gave us several selections with some songs, as charming a young lady as when in Albany Col lege. She asked especially about Henry Vollstedt. Miss Olmstead is teacher of music in Enterprise high school. The Enterprise Record-Chieftain has the finest plant I have seen in any city anywhere near the size of Enterprise, including a new seven magazine Merganthaler. Besides Ed itor Cheney owns his own building. He is contemplating starting a daily. In these progressive times, war for men seems to mean vote for women New York Sun.
