ROSE FESHVAL WILL BUBBLE WITH PATRtOTISM Portland. Ore, May R Fairy lard in red. white and bine will come into being at the 1917 Rote Festival Jnne 13, 14 and 15. for the board of directors decided today to carry the pirit of patriotism into the festival to the hut degree. Instead of the Rose Queen of form er years, a boy and a girl, not more than 10 years old, will be selected by the civic clubs in an election which opens tomorrow and continues to June 6. The successful boy and girl will be known as the Fa try King and Queen. The Oregon Girls' Honor Guard will benefit t o the extent of 10 per cent of the net receipts of the king and queen contest, wiiich is under the direction of Mrs. G. J. Fnankel. the first woman director ever elect ed to the festival directory. KHTS By F. P. Nutting Next thing to seeing a base ball game itself is watching the board at the Telegram corner at the Pittock building. The progress of the game is appreciated as much as if on the bleachers. Every play is shown by lights that flash, and it is known just what players do the work. Among the many tenants of the fine Pittock block is E. H.
