Severe weather in Europe has dis-H turbed the murdertcst in progress there, and the lighting has been of desultory character. Some days the item reads: "A calm on the Somnie front." Stopping the slinging of bul lets even for a short time is pleasins to peace loving people the world over. .While the bullets have lessened f f.i:ency words have been pouring forth from numerous quarters. Eng land, which has done less than most of the Allies in the pusl'ing of the lines of the Central Allies back, is now dominating the peace situation. The discovery has been made that Germany is in sore straits and is ask ing for peace terms because of inter nal conditions, and, therefore, it is the business of the Allies to reject -it i.:j, .s, rr.noition and an kiii u a . i .... . ,- i fight the enemy down into the ljt ditch. As a matter oi laci umwi is probably as well situated for con tinuing the war as the Allies, and so far as that goes, it is a hit and miss game. When the note was sent forth it cansed so much fluctuation in the inrV market as to build tin fortune in a night time.
