MANS WAR
The yeai 1917 faces another year
of war. It is very doubtful if the Eu
ropean war will end this year. It is
almost impossible to see a stopping
place, with the blood of nations at
boiling heat. More and more people
realize tl:at it is an awtul carnage.

letters from the front. But I reply,
this is not God's war; it is man's war.
Nowhere in the Bible are nations told
to murder on the contrary, the Bi
ble says, 'Thou shalt not kill,' but I
know how the feeling is growing
among soldier and I tear the war's
bad effect on religion.
"Sometimes I think the war is a
necessary evil. The world seems to
learn by experience.
"That is the maddest thought today.
Why has England the largest navy?
Why ha Germany the largest army!'
Because of world trade."
