HAD CLOSE CALL. Two Men in Auto Struck by Shasta Limited at Harr'sburg Saturday. Ifarrisburg, Nov. 12. H. L. Mc Faddcn and Mr. Stalp had a close es cape from death here this morning, when Mr. McFadden's automobile was struck by the Shasta Limited at the depot crossing in this city. The depot and a lare warehouse obstructs the view of the Southern Pacific tracks from the south. The tear of the automobile was struck by the engine and the car was knocked clear of the track. Mr. Mc Faddcn was bruised on the chct and his face was badly cut by flying itlass. A POTATO CENTER. Halsey Has Distinction of Being One of Best Potato Shipping Points in the Valley. Enterprise: Local and Portland potato buyers have purchased targe quantities of po tatoes in Halsey during the past few weeks. At the Southern Pacific sta tion in this city and the Oregon F.lec tric station at Tulsa over 30 cars have been shipped and according to a-local potato buyer there arc over ten cars yet awaiting shipment. : Owing to the present car shortage, from which there seems to be no immediate relief, these spuds are stored tempo rarily in tile Johnson & Landon warehouse here, in the O. E. depot at Tulsa, the old warehouse at Shedd and the warehouse at Fayetteville. The crop in this vicinity was partic ularly good and good prices were obtained. Returned to Portland Mrs. R. W. Williams and two chil dren, after'a visit of several weeks at the home of Mrs. Williams' parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. French, left yes terday afternoon for their home in Portland. and Mr. Stalp sustained a broken arm. Witnesses say the train was running 20 or 25 miles an hour. COMMONWEALTH SESSION.
