round-up., Better wait till she gets the
Linn county fair moved over there
and combine the whole outfit with her
industrial fair. Albany is ideally lo
cated for a big exposition such as this
would make. The old fair grounds
South of town afford a lot of room,
and when in condition has the fastest
mile race track in the state. Better
have one big time than a half-dozen

Miss Orali Harkncss, of this city, is
now in McMinnville, in the interest of
the White-Ellison people, promoting
the Chautauqua at that place, and
looking after the interests of Whitc
Ellisou company. From New Mexico,
along the border, she came up through
Nevada, Utah and Idaho, across to
Oregon. She will be in Albany for
only a few hours on the afternoon of
the Fourth, between trains, on her
way to California. Later she will l.e
sent to eastern Washington to look
after several Chautauquas there. She
assists especially in the advance sale
of tickets and settlement for the at
tractions offered by her company.
Dr. Stewart Left
Dr. and Mrs. F. J. Stewart, of the
O. A. C, left yesterday for Lincoln,
Nebraska, where Dr. Stewart is to be
come physical, director of the Univci
sity of Nebraska. He is a strong man
in the position. .
Dangerously 111
Prof. Gilbert, recently of the Al
bany schools, now with relatives near
Eugene, is reported critically ill, with
tuberculosis, with prospects of living
only a few days. He is a splendid
man and a good educator, and his
many friends here wil regret his se
rious condition.

The Oregon Electric workmen are
busy today installing A new sidetrack
to the worehouse of the Magnolia
flour mill, which will be occupied by

son. Operation for Appendicitis
Catherine llarrctt, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. W. A. llarrctt was taken to
St. Mary's hospital late last night, and
at midnight an operation was per
formed upon her for appendicitis.
Though of a serious character, she is
doing well, ami promises to recover.
