That Stolen Car
licrnicc Lane, of Corvallis, has re
turned from Koseburg, driving her
Buick back through the mud, a plucky
girl. The two boy arrested for the
theft of the car claimed they found
it in I-inn county, but of course did
not. If they did it would make the
case one for Linn county courts.
Wallace R. Struble
Among those in Srlcm this week
seen by the editor of the Democrat
was Wallace R. Struble, a former
manager of the commercial club of
this city. Mr. Struble is now in
charge of the promotion of the naval
base at Astoria, and is mailing things
hum for it. At Salem he raised $400
for the work, and believes there is
good prospect of the mouth of the
Columbia getting the project which
will mean the spending of several mil
lion dolbrs there.
Highly Appreciated
Rev. Wallace H. Lee, president of
Albany College, will occupy the pul
pit of the Central Presbyterian church,
East Pine and East Thirteenth streets,
for at least a month more. His ser
mons are highly appreciated by the
congregation, but there is no plan to
call Dr. Lee. The supply committee
of the session has under contempla
tion the call for a permanent pastor,
but no definite action has been taken.

Electric Power Is
Best for Every
Purpose
Electric drive eliminates long lines of over
head shafting which represents a dead loss in "
efficiency of as much as 60 per cent.
Electric drive permits individual application
of power to each machine so that if only one
or two machines are in operation power is .
being used only in that proportion.
Central station electric service has reduced
power costs in thousands of factories. Let us
figure what it will do for you.
