serve humane practices and give inno

bast, common decency should be ob
served. A peace movement has been begun

Jordan, of Stanford, is taking zn ac
tive part It is very doubtful if the
warring nations, in their present tem
per, will pay much attention to peace
conventions, or anything else but ex
haustion. Perhaps mention of a football game
is appropriate after the topic war.'
The game is a battle, and in some
of them there is put the spirit and vim
of a bullet contest. The desire " to
win prevails to such an extent that
men use every ounce of energy to
accomplish a play. Like pep through
life would mean great things.
One football player who is putting
football pep into his life is Bruce
Evans, the evnrgelist. a young man
who goes into his work of saving
souls with all the earnestness of a
good football player. Evans is dif
ferent from most evangelists. He is
not an imitator of Sunday, as some
have said, hut is just plain Evans,
with an individuality his own. backed
by a clear head and clean life.
Auto drivers will have to study the
rules of safety first, and. if the acci
dents keep increasing it may be nec
essary to have some semaphores put
out. During the winter months par
ticularly greM caution should be used
on the slippery streets, conductive to
skidding.
