The latter, with few excep tions, are steadily enlarging, as is ev idenced by the comparisons of ban clearings, railroad earnings, commod commodity prices, unfilled steel ton v --page, idle freight car and other sta tistical barometer. It is not men speculation or hope that starts, many wheels revolving in iron and tee' after an idleness of several years, bui a rush of actual orders that is tax ing the capacity of mills and fur naces to the otmost. With opera tions in the great basic industry on r scale seldom, if ever, equalled, addi tion to working forces are impera tive and the increase in the numbe of men at work mean a broadening of consumptive requirements. In the adjustment to new eco nomic conditions signs are to be ex pected, and for some time to come the situation in different sections and trades is likely to vary considerably.
