E. of the Christian Church held a business meeting in the church on Wednesday erening. Little Wtt Louise Collins, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Collins, en tertained a few of her girl friends to day at luncheon, the occasion being her eleventh birthday. The table was prettily decorated with yellow shaded candies, a large birthday cake and dainty yellow place cards, around which were seated thirteen pretty girls, dressed in chic frocks. After luncheon. Misses Blanche Hammel and Alzina P.irker. chaperoned the; girls to the movies. The favored guests were: Florence Fortniiller, Ruth Marshall, Catherine Bain, Marie Mason, Henrietta, Mary and Jane Davis, Maxine Willis, Ora Gilchrist, Mary Waller, Muriel Simpson and Eudora McAlpin. " ' ' ; g, j The Missionary Society of the Unit ed Presbyterian church met in the I church parlor on Wednesday. The study of "The Child of the Midst.1 was taken up, followed by a discus sion and social hour. Dainty refresh ments were served by the hostess. Mrs. C. li. Stewart, Miss Patterson trii Miss Laura Mc Brule. Mrs. Ben Taylor was hostess for the ladies of the Missionary Society of the Grace Presbyterian church on Friday. An hour was passed in study and in the late afternoon dainty re freshments were served. iS A few young people of Albany Col lege went across the river last night, built a bon fire, around which they made merry and roasted marshnial lows. Mrs. John Bryant of East Fifth street entertained the members of tho Xur.thc club on Friday. It is a new club and six members were present at the tirst meeting. ihe rooms were decorated with baskets of pussy-wil-lows. After the initiation, the young ladies passed a few hours in sewing and music, followed by choice refresh ments. Those present were: Mes dames Charles Essex, Lloyd Mar quam, Rollin Hacklcman, Carl Can- field. Frank Eyronds, and the host ess. Mr. Francyl Howard gave a stag party to several of his friends last night. The first part of the evening was passed in music, followed by a dainty repast, after which the young men attended the moving picture show. Mr. Frank Wills and Mr. Charles Essex were stag-masters Those present were Messrs. .Lee Hut bert, Clarence Wills, Ernest Mc Kin ney, Robert Boetticher, Merrill Ohl ing. David Wieder, and Fred Aid rich. -A very pretty affair of the week was the Elks' dance, given last night for the Elks and their families. The hall was attractively decorated for the occasion with yellow chrysanthe- r.uirs snd the lodge colors, pur pi: and white. Hendershott's ochestra (Eugene) played and the grand march was led by Mr. Parker and his daugh ter. Miss Alzina Parker. . a The Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian church met with Mrs John Sbaw on Wednesday. Miss Flo ra Mason gave a book review on "The Lure of America" and Mrs. Walton' Worrell read an interesting paper on "The Why and How of Foreign Mis-1 sions." After a short discussion and social hour, a dainty collation was served. FOUR INTERMEDIATE TEAMS PLAY AT ALBANY Y.M.C.A. .. The intermediate basketball league at the Y. M. C. A. has started opera tions, and four of the six teams in the league clashed last night for the op ening games of the scries. The team captained by John Ilolliugtworth won from Marion Boctticlier's five by a score of 12 to 8, while Raymond Xch ergall's quintette beat the team led by Roy Easthurn to the tune of 26 to !-' Physical director McDonald says that the games last night were the best that have been put on at the Al bany Y.
