Tlie manufacture of attar of toscs furnlshei
einj'loytncnt to hundreds of persons A visit
to llie ruse fields is something one will remem
ber a life time. The largest rose fields in the
world are at Kean Lik, in Bulgaria. There
the roses from which the perfume is made are
cultivated most extensively. The rose district
extends f miles and miles, and the entire i
coun try is a solid mass of flowers. Tne district
is, I should jdge about one thousand square
miles. In procuring the attar of roses nothing
bnt the leaves are usrd. It take 6,000,000
of leaves to make one pound of the attar. The
rose leaves are picked in the proper season,
thrown into piles and ihen taken up and placed
in large copoer kettles for the purpose of dis
tilling the pure oil or attar. The kettles arc
arranged one within another and the leaves
are taken through twenty five or thirty distil
lations. Good altar of rosea can be had for
from 3l3 to $15 per ounce at wholesale.
sornQtiuH'k retails for $50 to $60 an ounce.

Cl.EVKUNri, Jan. 24 Once more the ecW
ladies temperance organization has changed
its name. That first agreed upon was
"American Woman's Temperaneo League."
This was changed yesterday afternoon to
"National Crusaders," After cogitating the
matter over night some of the ladies decided
that that they did not like this either, so
this morning the action was reconsidered,
after some discussion and the name of Non
Partisan Women's Christian Temperance
uuiud was uemucu upon.
