Metzgar, who has charge of the big log drive of the Spaulding Lum ber Co., returne.1 to Waterloo and be yond, where the drive of about len million feet is getting a start. Mr. Mitzgar has thirty men with him, and they make from a mile to two miles a day down the narrow stream. They are near Foster. BASE BALL THE 4Tfl High School Beat the S. P. AT ALBANY. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Shaw and son and Mrs. Royal Shaw and son, returned lo Mill City, where Mr. Shaw is at th: head of the big Curtis Lumber Co's. business during the absence of his father, Four hundred men are em ployed in all, about two hundred at the mill, where an immense lumber making business is done. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Pollak went to Portland on the early train, taking their blooded Coolie shepherd dog, Duke, which thev will enter in the biir dog show, and find out just how he points. Mrs. Dollie Houck Waggoner, of Lebanon, dime down to see her aunt, Mrs. Burmester, in the hospical re ceiving treatment. Mrs. Waggoner was a former Albany "girl," thirty years ago a member of . the famous Ladies Band. It looked like a close came in th - beginning of the contest between (he ' high school and S. P. last last evening awhile before dark. Walter Rirtrhet pitched a stmt out game for a couple of' innings, very effective, tiut the wirv ! studenis got onto the trick in the third and piled up three runs quickly. Smith ! pitched the remainder ot thegasne. The other three runs were made in one inn nr. Douglas pitched for the high school a i strong game, with nntning doing until the last inning. The high school team iias developed several trii'ks that work well, and are now strong both in batting ! and fielding at every point. The lineups were: j High School. -C. I The sacred concert given by the I Presbyterian choir under the direction ot Mrs. f lo was a complete success, The good sized audience was highly .entertained and inspired. The selec tions rendered by the orchestra and Mr. Wilson were excellent.
