Sperry, '51. John L. Sperry died in Portland Saturday at the age of 64 years after a short illness. Ho came from Ohio to Linn county in 1851, settling at Browns ville. He served in the Indian wars. He moved to HoDnner in the early (Us. and was elected sheriff of Umatilla county in 1878. Then ho moved to Portland, where he engaged in the wool husiness.
