Word was re ceived today that three warships will come to the exposition to arrive at As toria June 7. The national missionary convention of the United Presbyterian church to be held in Albany beginning Monday evening, June 5 and ending Thursday morning June 8, will be an important gathering of women from different parts ot the country from New xorti and Pennsylvania West. There will be approximately one hundred fifty women here from other-places, mostly dele gates. About one hundred of them1 will arrive in Portland Friday evening, June 2. They will remain there over night and come tor Albany on the noon . train of Saturday, June 3 and be enter tained by our citizens until their de parture. Some are already visiting on the coast and those' from the cods t churches will make up the total of one hundred fifty ' or more. The gathering will be a good thing for Oregon. i The Woman's Missionary Society is made up of 26,575 members, represent ing 1,019 congregational .societies.! Last year they raised $121,000, and closed the year with a balance of $16, 000 on hand. Toey are among their , other other work supporting 45 women missionaries and five ladv nhvsicians. Besides they are looking after a good deal of home work.. Among the delegates will be nine women missionaries, now in this country. , The Extra Session. Washington, May 27. The long-expected announcement has at last come that construction on the Lewiston Riparia branch of the O.
