For many Vrars there lias been on foot an agitatioi. in favor of changing Inauguration any from the 41 h of March to some later -Sale when the skies were more apt to smile propitiously on the proceediogB and leas likely to deluge the spectators with rain, sleet or snow. With each recurrent in auguration at which the weather was bid, this agitation was renewed on'y lo die away shortly afterwards. After this it waa decided by the In augural cummittee that a concerled and sustained effort must be made to alter the day, preferably lo April 30, the day on ahich Washington waa inaugurated. Formal steps have now been taken with tbiB end in view, the Commissioners of the District having been formally re, quested to "appoint such a number of parsons, as in their judgment and dis cretion may be necessary, to constitute a committee of national character, to con aider the question of, and to take proper tape to secure a change of the date of the inauguration of the President of the United Statea, from the 4tb of Mach to some date, as in the judgment of said cornmitte, would be moie suitable for Inauguration day." Commissioner Mciarland, who was a member of the last inaugural committee, will present the matter to his assosiates of I be District board. There have been twenty-nine inaug uration days.
