Vfa bv tho lira;'., finest, and most com plete stock of GROCERIES AND PROVISIONS ever brought into this city, and we aro goin to still at prices below anything ever befora offered in this place. You may think this a rash assertion; but if jo I will call and examine the quality uf cur goods and Get Our Prices you will be convinced that we have not over-estimated ourselves. Remember we are buying our goods largely direct from first bands, thereby saving all profits of the middle men, and our command of ready cash hag enabled us to buy our goods remarkably cheap, getting the beneiit of ill discounts and re bates, placing us in a position where we can dictate to them and net (bey to us, hereby always getting the BEST AMD FRESHEST and never allowing our goods to gru w shelf orn and stale waiting jr l.i. profits. TheBe are the Teaaons why we desire your patronge and wby we 1 1 joy such a healthy tra '). We have adrUd recrntly to our stock a full and cou - pbte line ot Crockery and Glass Ware. These poods we bought direct from Eistei n f-ctoris, thus securing Ibe late, designs at prices way down. These goods have to bej setn to be appreciatpd Farmers having produce to sell will at all limes teci'n the top ot the mai lc for good prodncc, and your patnhHs;n is o.rnc'ly solicited. GRADWOHL, Crockery, Ware and Hardware OIL AND LEAD. Agricultural Implements Acnt ior Fire aui Marine liisiiiancc Mr. Dcpew, of New York, who was a prominent candidate before the National republican convention for the presidency, and who, like Gresham, when beaten, hied himself off to Europe, has just returned and treats the republican campaign nnny with this broadside : 'I met an Englishman.and he was a no bleman of highcducation, who had traveled all around the world, and much in Amer ica, who was in favor of Harrison's elec tion. I war somewhat surprised, for Har rison is hardly known over there, even by name, and I asked him why. He said it was because a tariff reduction such as was proposed by the democrats would be a bad thing for the English manufacturers, for it would then enable the Americans to com pete with them in the markets of the world, while under the present system the Eng lishmen have everything their own way. His opinion was that with free raw material American manufacturers would become formidable compctitors.to the detriment of English manufacturers.'' This is a beautiful story, but no more beautiful than truthful, and has the effect of knocking an enormous (.mount of wind out of republican campaign sails. The Democratic party Is the party of the plain people. Its mission is to govern for the benefit of the masses of society for the general welfare. Its cornerstone is that the humblest citizen is entitled to the same liberty and the same protection that the most exalted enjoy. It, therefore, wants all the plain people, without regard te race or color, to ho!d up its hands that it may endure forever, that it may preserve free government, and that it may strike down every monopoly or other powerful engine of despotism and oppression. You can always please a woman by tell ing her she is pretty, even if she doesn't believe you. Woman kissing woman is a waste of the raw material which should be protected by a duty. Would it not be a good idea for all our highly protected manufacturers to show their love for the workingmen by establish ing an eight-hour work day and increasing wages about 35 per cent?
