Special Agent Leland lias telegraphed

A new industry has been started in
Portland by Trescott & Company, in the
old ice house on Corbelt etreet. It is
the packing of "Columbia River Stur
geon" by cold storage. Tife fish ia re
ceived there and placed in salt and ice
until frozen. It is then packed in boxes
holding nbout 250 pounds and shipped
in sawdust to Chicago and New York to
be prepared for the market there by be
ing canned, smoked or dried, as may be
desired. At the present time alnmt

The grand union paspenger depot, apart
of the enterprise, will be a coloi-cal
atructure of ueel capable of accommo
dating all the trains that now enter New
York and Jersey City. It will bo largo
onough to hold twenty trackts side by
side and will bo 1300 feet in length.
