then acknowledges in Its own Chamber

Special Agent Leland lias telegraphed
the census oiiice that it had been dis
covered that tho state census of Oregon
in 1S35 had been erronously published.
It had been found that tlio ligcrea given
were about -10,000 too large. When the
correction was made tho present census
returns did not on their face appear ro
glaringly in error. Mr. Leland believed
that if tho real figures for 1SS5 had been
known at the start ihe kick from Ore
gon would not have been made eo ig-orously.

until frozen. It is then packed in boxes
holding nbout 250 pounds and shipped
in sawdust to Chicago and New York to

desired. At the present time alnmt
forty carloads have been tent east.

It is calculated that the now bridge
over tho Hudson at New York, which
will be the greatest engineering feat of
the century, will cost about $t0,00d,O0O,
I will take ten yeara to construct it ami
will be a third longer than the Fa

but unlike tho former it will lie of the
cantilevar type. Storo-houees will lw

Freight cars will unload by moana of
chutes into tbte and chips will load
direct from them or direct to the cars.
The grand union paspenger depot, apart
of the enterprise, will be a coloi-cal
