THURSDAY. OCTOBER 13. Mrs. D. Wyatt Heads Sams Valey Parent-Teachers Mrs. Darlene Wyatt was elect ed president of Sams Valley Par ent-Teacher Association during the executive meeting held Fri day, October 7. Other officers are Mrs. Ruby Pleasant, vice president; Mrs. Jean Smith, secretary, and Mrs. Blanche Southard, treasurer. We wish them all success. Over the weekend, someone ran into one of our stone water fountains and wrecked it. Ronnie Couts, a boy in the fcixth grade, says that he has a pet fawn that is taking care of. Sam Edwards of Sams Valley got a forked bucked in eastern Oregon. Dick Southard, Milton Sanderson and Wes McDon- tough, all of Sams Valley, got deer this past week. Our principal, Roland Smith, and our janitor, Walter Miller, and Gilbert Mack, principal of Gold Hill Grade school, are go ing hunting together in eastern Oregon next weekend. Sams Valley seventh and eighth grade boys are going to play football against Elk-Trail next Friday, October 14. The game will be held there. Ruth Ellis, Marilee Smith Reporters. Evangelist-Author To Present Services At Pilgrim Church The Rev. William S. Deal will be the speaker at special services at the Pilgrim Holiness church of Central Point this weekend. There will three services, Oc tober 14-16. On Friday and Satur day at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 11 a.m. The Reverend Deal, who is superintendent of the Pacific Northwest District of the Pilgrim Holiness church, is making his quarterly visits to the churches in this area. He is well known for his evangelism and his writ ing. Sunday evening at 7:30 o’clock, Reverend Deal will speak at the Pilgrim Holiness church in Med ford. The public is invited to attend all of these services. PUPILS GET PICTURES Individual pictures and class photos were sent home yesterday with pupils from Central Point Elementary schools. OREGON Airman William Dir Home from England Al/c William Dir, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Dir of Central Point, is home on leave after being in England for the past three months. Airman Dir is now stationed at Salina. Kansas. Before return ing to duty at his Kansas base, he will drive to Seattle, Wash ington. to visit with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Cole. Wyatts Attend Wedding Rites In Eugene Set. By Mrs. Ray Doran TABLE ROCK—Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wyatt. Wayne and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wyatt motored to Eu gene to attend the wedding of Kenneth Wyatt and Miss Helen Wood Saturday, October 8. The ceremony was the Canadian rit ual. The newlyweds motored down the coast to Carmel for their honeymoon before returning to their school studies at San Lorenzo. Calif. Herschel Harper and Babe Rominger were among the lucky ones to get a deer so far this season. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Doran and Linda returned Monday from a week in California where they visited many famed places in San Francisco and the grape •vineyards at Fresno. They re turned by the coast route, but at no time found anyplace to compare with Oregon. They were very glad to return home. The first meeting of Ladies club will <be held at the home of Mrs. June Fleischer with Mrs. Mary Myers as assistant. Silent Sisters will be revealed and new officers elected. Mrs. Mary Howsley received a cut forehead and black eye Saturday in a rear-end auto col lision. Mrs. S. J. Richardson left Wed nesday noon for Roseburg as a (delegate to the four units of Retired Teachers of Oregon. She will attend two days then she and Mr. Richardson will motor to Portland where they will visit their son, Donald, and family. While there Mrs. Richardson will celebrate her birthday. They plan on returning the first part the week. Four Doors Installed In New Fire Hall Four large roll-away doors have been installed in the new Central Point fire hall during the past week. Contractor Archie Purdy is now building forms for the pour ing of concrete window sills throughout the building .The sills will be poured this week end. School to Excuse Pupils for Show Pupils at Central Point Elem entary schools will be excused Tuesday, October 18, to attend a special musical play, “The Be- men Town Musicians,” to be held at 1:45 p.m. at the Craterian Theatre in Medford. Principal C. A. Meyer reported |that children will be excused only by bringing a slip from their parents. Parents must provide transportation. Tickets are 35 cents for children and 50 cents for adults. The annual event is presented by the Children’s Theatre of the West under the sponsorship of the American Association of Un iversity Women. Proceeds of the show will be used for the scholar ship fund. Fire Permit Rule Relaxed for Winter Mrs. Flora L. Hix, Mother of Mr». Joe Gray, Die» Thursday Fire permits are no longer necessary in the Central Point Rural Fire Protection District, Chief Richard Krupp announced yesterday. Chief Krupp stated that rural district residents may now burn rubbish and trash without first obtaining a permit. During past months, when fire permits were required, no fire alarms resulted from supervised trash fires. The department was called out several times during the summer to control fires which had been started by rural residents who failed to obtain a burning permit and to have the burning site checked by the rural firemen. Mrs. Flora L. Hix, 87, of The Dalles, mother of Mrs. Joseph Gray of Central Point, passed away last Thursday, October 6, at her home in The Dalles. Funeral rites were held Sat urday, October 8. Interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery at The Dalles. ’ Mrs. Hix was born February 19, 1863 in Benton county, In diana. She was married to John W. Hix December 13. 1883. Th» couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1933. Mr. Hix passed away in 1944. The couple moved to Sopkane, Wash., shortly after their mar riage and then in 1877 settled in $ $395 down Easy bank terms on balance School regulations and activi ties were discussed at the first meeting of the student council of Central Point Elementary school Tuesday. She was affiliated with the Old Wasco County Pioneers as sociation and the Star Rebekah lodge of Dufur. In addition to Mrs. Gray, she is survived by three other daugh- h*rs, Mrs. George Miller, The Dalles, Mrs. Warren Stanley, Dufur and Mrs. Don Paulson. Maupin; four sons, Simon, Harry and John Hix, all of Dufur, and William of Klamath Falls; and by grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Gray left last Wednesday morning, October 5, for The Dalles. They returned home Tuesday evening.
