THURSDAY, JULY 21. 1955 Africa Missionary Visits Classes At Table Reck By Mrs. Ray Doran TABLE ROCK — Miss Doris Motley, missionary from Nigeria, Africa, who has been taking re fresher courses in the United States, is visiting Alan Hill and family. She has come out to the Bible school to visit the children and to tell them of her adventures. Miss Motley visited Bible study class Tuesday evening and told of her many experiences and her work among the tribes. She is leaving soon for her post in Africa. Mr. and Mrs. David Romtvait and family, Klamath Falls, spent the weekend with relatives in the valley. They visited their cousin, Mrs. Louise Doran, Sat urday. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hull and daughter, Marilyn, motored to Portland Tuesday where Mrs. Hull and daughter will stay for about a week. Mr. Hull will re turn Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cottrell, Coos Bay, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. U. Thomas. The Oregon State Education Association, Medford and Grants Pass chapters, held a picnic at Tou Velle park with about 40 present. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Nealon of Table Rock and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith and twin daughter of Medford visited Mr. and Mrs. Walter Timm Sunday. Mrs. Timm has had a bad siege of virus, but is much better. It last week’s issue, a grave mistake was made in the item stating Mrs. Taylor had gone to Portland for silrgery. It was very likely your reporter’s writing so - will correct it this time. It was Mr. Haylor who was to have gone to Portland. However, last minute changes were made and he had major surgery in the Community hospital in Medford last Friday. He expects to be home in about a week and is reported getting along fine. Mrs. Robinson, who was a surgery patient a couple of weeks ago. is up and about again and was back at her job of Sunday school secretary this Sunday. Mrs. Jack Cleaves. North Bend, has been staving with her moth-, Mrs. E. H. Tavlor. the past week. The Fruit Growers Association will hold a field day. Friday, July 22. visiting valley orchards and meeting at Tou Velle park for lunch and to see the latest in orchard equipment which will be on display in the park. Erne<4 Hamilton visited in Eu gene over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lewis and babv. Jan. visited her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hamilton, on Modoc last weekend. They live in Cottage Grove since his Navy discharge. Mr. and Mrs. Shirrel Weeden CENTRAL POINT AMERICAN. CENTRAL POINT, OREGON and her mother. Mrs. Mil Rouski. of Dunsmuir, Calif., visited Tues day evening at the Frank Mvers and Herschel Harper homes. They formerly lived in this district. Judy and Barbara Wheeler at tended the fifth birthday party held for Tommy James of Long Beach by his grandmother, Mrs. DeVeydt, whom he is visiting this summer. Mr. Smith and family, Lois Vanderpool, Grace Bigham. Otis Hedge, Mr. and Mrs. E. Brown and Glenna May, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Myers and family of Gold Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Les Bigham and son. Central Point, were pic nic guests at the Frank Myers «home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mayfield, Central Point, were Sunday even ing guests of the Frank Myers. Mr. and Mrs. David Doran and children, Tamara and David Shane, have moved back to their home in Medford after staying with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Doran, since his accident last November. He has returned to his barber chair in the Fred Fry shop, although he will still be on Crutches until next November, according to his doctor. Mrs. Frances Vanderpool visit ed the sick and shutins in the district last week. A group of 40 young folks from the Baptist church, Medford, were guests of Richard Morris Satur day evening for a very enjoyable hay ride and picnic which was held in the Taylor picnic grounds. Their singing was enjoyed by the neighbors as they rode along. Ernest Smith, graduate of OTI, and' Miss Lois Vanderpool. SOCE junior from Central Point, have announced their wedding date as August 12 to be held at eight o’clock in the West Side church of Christ, Medford. Ernest is working for a lumber company in Phoenix at the present time. Mr. and Mrs. Ray B. Speer, Ross I^ane, have taken a long time lease on the Ray Baker farm and will be moving in soon Kenneth Wyatt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wvatt, who has been teaching in Eugene schools, has accepted a position a.s school psy chologist at San Marenco, Calif., near Oakland. Robert Sage is spending his vacation in the sun in the logging camp of Steve Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Poulton and Mr. and Mrs. Don Sinren and families of Lake view visited at the Arthur Doty home recently. Recent visitors at the J. S. Richardson home were Mrs. Rob ert Tucker and son of Moultrie. Georgia; Mr. and Mrs. J. Maury Cowgill. San Bemadino, Calif.. Mrs. Sally Cowgill of Central Point and the Don Whitney fam ily of Centraj Point. Mosquitos were given a DDT treatment early Thursday morn ing by an airplane chartered by Table Top farms. The whole dis trict got a good spraying. Medford Crater Lions held a potluck picnic at Tou Velle park Tuesday evening. Robert L. The total vote was 96 yes and 4 no. With the favorable vote, the board of directors is now author ized to enter into a 40-year. inter est-free repayment contract with the bureau of reclamation, which will have charge of the proposed work. In addition to her parents, sur vivors include two brothers, Step hen Stanley and Nathan Andrew; four sisters, Judith Elizabeth, Julie Eve, Janine Erin and Jeri Ellen; paternal grandfather, M. F. SISTER IS GUEST Mr. and Mrs. David Beebe and son, Donnie, of Homedale, Idaho, were guests at the Oscar Swan son home several days last week. The two ladies are sisters.
