OREGON Joint Installation Monday Evening Seats New Officers for IOOF, Rebekahs Central Point Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodges held their an nual joint installation of officers in the Central Point Grange hall Monday evening, January 10. District Deputy Grand Master Riley Applegate and Deputy President Lillian Lowry, with a staff from Medford Odd Fellows end Rebekah lodges, put on the ceremony. The installing team consisted of . W. H. Dyer and Mrs. Riley Applegate, marshals; Jack Mc Daniels and Mrs. Lewis Thomp son, wardens; Kindred Thomas and Mrs. Jack McDaniels, sec retary; Charles Swingle and Mrs. Floyd Murray, treasurer; Mr. and Mrs. John Daniels and Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Walden guardians. Installed as noble grand for the Central Point Rebekahs was Mrs. Lula Glenn. Her officers are: Mrs. Helene. McDowell and Mrs. Dorothy Thomason, right and left supporters; Mrs. Marg aret Barnett, vice grand; Mrs. Viola Troutman and Ilda Pen- land, right and left supporters to the vice grand. Recording secretary is Mrs. Doris Burkhart; financial secre tary, Marge Booth; treasurer, Mrs. Aliec Van Der Steen; ward en, Velma Adams; conductor, Jean Frick; color bearer, La Murle Farran; chaplain, Mrs. Velma Kime; inside guardian, Mrs. Norma Glenn; outside guard ian, Mrs. Norma Kime and mus ician, Mrs. Lillian Lowry. L. D. Hays was installed as noble grand for the Odd Fellows with Forest Thomason and Ger ald Kime as right and left sup porters. Neil Glenn Vvcs placed as vice grand with Frank Glenn and William Musty as right and left supporters. Other IOOF officers installed wiere: A. C. Smith, recording secretary; Ellsworth Robinson, financial secretary; Chet Thom ason, treasurer; Marshal Weid man, conductor; Johnie Kime, warden; Clark McDowell, chap lain; Al Troutman, inside guard ian; Vern Kyght, outside guard ian and Andrew Glenn and Fran- cis Marshal as right and left scene supporters. After completion of ceremon- ies, the group heard several short addresses by District Deputy Grand Master Applegate, Deputy President Lowry and Special Deputy Jack McDaniels. Refreshments were served lat er in the evening. DAY IN STORE Mrs. John Cupp and Mrs. Lest er Mann were out of town Tues day for the day. J. B. Shirley was in charge of the furniture store cn Pine street. Little Karen Gebhard, who has been ill for several weeks with rheumatic fever, is improving and able to be up one hour each day. Maiden Quits Bank, To Wed Pvt. J. Riggs Miss Betty McKenzie, employe of the First National bank, left this week for California where she will be married to Pvt. Jim Riggs at Fort Ord. Hoover - Hillard Troth Announced The engagement of Miss Ro berta Hilliard to Ian Hoover was announced Sunday at the Com munity Bible church by Rev. Rolf Hansen. Miss Hilliard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simmie J. Hil liard of Central Point and Hoov er is the son of Mrs. Ada Hoover, Oakland, Calif. Both Miss Hilliard and Hoover are students at Simpson Bible institute in Seattle, Wash., and both plan to work as Christian ministers. A June wedding is planned. Theta Rho Girls Set installation Jan. 26 Public installation ceremonies for Beta Chi Theta Rho girls club will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, follow ing the regular club meeting. The regular meeting will be gin at 7 p.m. sharp, it was de cided by members at their meet ing Wednesday evening, January 12. At this session, President Ethel Bresland was in the chair. Doren- da Glenn gave her charge. Plans were made for a public bingo party and plans were also dis cussed for girls to attend a dis trict convention in Ashland on February 26. January 5, at the home of Mrs. E. E. Reams. His topic was “Pointers on Home Landscaping.’’ Assisting the hostess at this meeting were Mrs. Roy Stanley and Mrs. Edward Jones. Two floral arrangements were featur ed at this meeting. One was Jap anese cabbage by Mrs. Bert Elliott and the other was Christ mas cacti by Mrs. James Cornutt. The corsage went to Mrs. Leon ard Freeman with first and sec- and door prizes going to Mrs. W. B. Kincaid and Mrs. Don Faber. The next meeting will be Feb- ruary 2 at the home of Mrs. Don Faber. Beef Club Members See Picture on Cattle Larry Tweedy from Monarch Feed and Seed showed members of Central Point Beef club a pic ture on beef cattle at the De cember 27 meeting of the group at the Bill Anhorn home. The regular meeting was held at 9 o’clock. New members are Joan Dobrot and Carolee Brant- PAGE FIVE ley. The sheet to be sent to the 4-H office was passed around and signed. The next meeting is to be at Bill Charley’s home on January 24. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served by Mrs. Anhorn. Bill Anhorn. reporter Taylors Host Pinochle Party Sat. Evening Mr. and Mrs. Charles Taylor of Old Stage Road entertained a group of their friends at a pinochle party at their home Sat urday night. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Del mar Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rusnell, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Straus, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ham mond a"hd Mr. and Mrs. Clem Ault. Local 4-H Dairy Club Meets at Hover Home Central Point 4-H Dairy club met at the Carl Hover home on Monday, January 3, with Lewis Nickerson calling the meeting to order. David Young led the club members in a flag salute. Mrs. Anhorn passed out last year's record boks and then the new record books and Fluhrer’s 4-H calendars. The next meeting is to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the C. W. Anhorn home on Monday, February 7. Rf freshments were served by Hover. Mrs. E. E. Faber attended the installation ceremony for Job’s Daughters at Grants Pass Mon day and reported a very nice ceremony. Several Central Point couples enjoyed an afternoon of bowling last Sunday. Couples trying their skill were the Richard Krupps, Dexter Bensons, L. C. Lisenbees, Jim Cains and Rudy Frohreichs. Mrs. Birdie Fisher of McMinn ville is a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mellbye and is helping to care for the family while Mrs. Mellbye Is a patient at Community hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Mel Williams and son, Joel, and Mrs. W. M. Wil liams of Grants Pass were visit ors a nd dinner guests at the home of Mrs. P. A. Tracy last Tuesday.
