OCTOBER 21. 1954 Church Builders Schedule Dinner In SV Saturday by Mrs. Floyd Doland SAMS VALLEY—Sams Valley Christian Builders are having a dinner Saturday, October 23, at Sams Valley Grange hall to help raise money to build the valley’s new church. The building fund is growing steadily and some day they will have a church to be proud of. They hope that people will get hungry and will come to try their delicious dinner. Serving will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. New officers for the Sams Valley Christian Builders are: Mrs Walter Miller, president; Mrs. Arnold Gosnell, vice presid ent; Mrs. Floyd Polluck, secre tary, and Mrs. Bob Galloway, treasurer. New Paint Job Sams Valley Grange hall has a new face. Mrs. Elwood Abbott, Mrs. Vic Brown and Mrs. Lind sey Houston did a wonderful job cleaning and painting inside the ball. The outside has a brand new coat of white paint also. Sams Valley Grange will hold Booster Night on Tuesday, Oc tober 26, starting at 8 p.m. The program is open to the public, Sams Valley Juvenile Grange has several numbers for the pro gram. Attend Funeral Gilbert Mack and son, David, attended grandmother’s funeral at Forest Grove. She was Mrs. Martha Ellis, an Oregon pioneer born in 1869. Sams Valley school children received booster shots and vac- cinations Tuesday, October 19. Mr. and Mrs. Wiyce Suregon and family moved on the Alvie Frederick place recently. Lavern is a third grader, Roger is in the eighth grade and John is a freshman at Crater High schooL CENTRAL POINT AMERIC?».N NEW RESIDENTS Mr. and Mrs. Harry Olson and her mother, Mrs. Childers, are now residents of Central Point having moved into the place va cated by the Greers. The Greers moved to the Olson place on Grant Road. Olson is a pharm acist at Sacred Heart hospital in Medford. Fashion Show Slated Tonight By Mrs. Ada Bonebrake EAGLE POINT—A fall fashion show will be presented Thurs day, October 21, at the Eagle Point Grange hall. Women’s fashions will be from the Town & Country Shop of Eagle Point; men’s fashions by Robinson Bros, of Medford; children’s fashions by the Big Y Tot Shop. A nursery will be provided and a movie for older children. The evening is planned for the whole family so come and bring your family. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Olsen spent the weekend at the home of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Girts, of Colfax, Wash. We are pleased to hear Mrs. Rosemary Ashpole is able to be up this week after a serious ill- ness. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chamberlain served a lovely potluck dinner Sunday, October 17, for 33 mem bers of their family. Eagle Point Home Extension Unit met Thursday, October 14, at the lovely home of Mrs. Dor een Vaughan. Mrs. Carol Clymer and Mrs. Jo Croskell were proj ect leaders giving a lesson of the “Home Medicine Cabinet.” Ted Hoffman was operated on Tuesday, October 19. We hope to be seeing Ted home soon. OREGON County 4-3 Team Takes 3rd at PI Jackson county’s 4-H livestock judging team walked away with third place honors at the Pacific International livestock exposi- tion underway at Portland. The team is composed of Dor- een Bohnert, Central Point; Mildred Oeil, Gold Hill, and David Woolfolk, Brwnsboro. First place in the team judg ing went to the trio from Yak ima county, Wash. Second place was won by the Kittitas county, Wash., team. present. Bill Askwith is cub master with Llo>d Dewey as as sistant cubmaster. Committee members serving the pack are Chris Barker, com mittee chairman; Chester Ashton, publicity committeeman; Maur- |ice Tuttle, finance committee- man; Frank Bruce; achievement committeeman. and Kenneth Muse, contact committeeman. Cubs were assigned to Den Mothers at this meeting. About six to eight cubs will work under a Den Mother. Women serving are: Central Point--Mrs. Alvarez, Mrs. Minger, Mrs. Medley and Mrs. Von Stein; Beall Lane dis trict—Mrs. Taylor and Mrs Whit tle; Wilson Road district- Mrs. McNeel and Mrs. Dewey; Wil low Springs district Mrs. Muel ler. It is estimated that 75 boys will be in the Central Point pack this year. The first pack meeting will be October 26 in the school cafeteria. SON VISITS SMITHS Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith and sons, Rex, Brand and Sandy, of Roseburg spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Smith. Other recent guests at the Smith home were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Keep of Mapleton who were on their way to Klamath Falls deer hunting. Mrs. Keep is a sister of Mrs. Smith. PARENTS ARE GUESTS Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Wichers of Pullman, Wash., parents of Mrs. Cecil Sharpe, were weekend guests at the Sharpe home. A delayed birthday party for Tim- athie Jeanne Sharpe, who cele brated her third birthday, was held Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Wichers left Sunday noon for California where he was to attend to business. FETED AT DINNER Miss Deanne Lowry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Lowry, was guest of honor at a birthdgv dinner party at her home Wed nesday, October 20. Leonard Black was also a guest. The Lowrys entertained Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Taylor Thursday, October 11, in honor of Mrs. Taylor's birthday. Mote. After a five day training ses sion, the crew leaders will re turn to their home counties and preceed with their tasks of re cruiting and training enumer ators prior to the start of the census of agriculture enumera tion in Jackson county.
