VOLUME XXI CENTRAL POINT AMERICAN CENTRAL POINT. OREGON. THURSDAY. APRIL 21, 1949 •< NUMBER 30 If' ^rnrlamation By an Innoceni Bystander We hear lots of grumbling on the part of people who have come to this city in recent years who com plain that “it’s all the fault of the city council” (or perhaps the fault of former city councils) that our city is not keeping up with the proces sion in the matter of street improve ment, better street lighting, and what have you? It seems to the writer that such complaining is all wet and shows the ignorance of whoever is doing the complaining. To our mind what is needed is a study of the history of this city, from its founding to the present time. Space will not permit us to give more than a very brief outline of such history, but even a little in sight into the past may help. TO GLEAN OP WHEREAS, the general health and welfare of our citiaens depend upon wholesome surroundings arising from good clean living conditions, and * WHEREAS, the lives and property of our people are endan gered by fire caused by the cluttered conditions in horns, factories, alleys and streets, and WHEREAS, unity of effort is required for the future develop ment of our community. SORRY! This paper regrets very much the publication, one week ago, of inaccurate and erroneous infor mation which was published as an announcement by Dr. Alvin Roberts.
