THURSDAY, JVNE IS. 1HU Sport Gags By K. D. P. Rogue River is getting so awful low at thia time of the year that I am beginning to wonder how low will it be when August rolls around. And I wonder how much damage it will do to the fish life because it is a recognized fact tixat when the water gets too warm, thousands of fish will die. Then that is where I wonder what kind of fishing will we have next year? This year it has been a very poor fishing outlook up to now though lately It has improved and I hope may continue to do so. —0— There are thousands of salmon lying behind the Gold Ray dam un able to go over the dam because of the low water and right now I wish there is some kind of a scheme that we could catch practically all of them and put them above the dam with out serious harm to the salmon eo that they may continue on to their spawning holes. —0— To have a big hoist over the edge of the dam, right in the middle, then use a big salmon net and catch all the salmon and bring both ends of the net together to be hooked on the hoist and pull the entire load and net up to above the dam and release them promptly. Though the entire idea Is crazy on my part but who knows it might help some to get more salmon above the dam. —fl it is too bad that Copco did not start the construction of a new lad der last summer because it looks like to me that there are considerably more salmon this year than last year. Our softball team certainly had a merry time last Friday when they crushed Gasco 19 to 6 with 2 home runs by Lee Pinkham who pitched a good game by allowing Gasco six hits. Entire players on Faber’s team played fine ball and I believe that they have hit their stride at last. WRESTLING NEWS After dropping the first fall to his clever opponent, Portland's Ernie Plluso came from behind to grab two tumbles and defeat Don Sugal of Salem in last Monday's main event wrestling match in the Medford armory. A series of painful and potent ham merlocks gave Piluso the victory. Ilia first fall came six minutes after the rest period and he wound up the spectacular and scientific bout in one minute and 20 seconds of the third heat. Jimmy Mitchell, alias the Black Panther, scored a two fall to ono victory over Frankie Clemens in the middle event, and like Piluso he w is forced to take two tumbles after los ing the first. In the opener Prince Selaki Mehall- kis whipped Canadian Herbie Parks in two straight falls.
