THURSDAY, MAY, 18, lúa» CEXTRAL POINT AMERICAN, CENTRAL POINT. OREOON PAGE m s S p o rt Gag's By K. D. P. Well, our high school team has come out on top by defeating Jack- kouvile and will tangle with Eagle Point for the county championship which by all odds should be a hum mer of a game. So it is my advice to all folks to come out and see them play in the final game of the season tomorrow afternoon at Med ford High school field. And you will really see a good game then. — 0— Our softball team is rounding slowly and surely into shape and so far I have been perfectly satisfied with the team. Bill Landers is get ting into shape very fast aud expect to see him in top shape after one more week of workout. We have engaged In two games which are just practice games and have lost both. Jennings Tire team which is one of the strongest teams in the class A league beat us by score of 8 to 3. Howard team defeated us 6 to 1. In both of these games they have showed us plenty that we need more practice on hitting. But I expect that it will not be very long before they really snap into form to give us runs which counts In the softball play. Right now 1 ain thinking of the future in regard to the softball teams after this year. 1 could not be sure as t0 whether Bill Landers will be here all the time or Del Ayers either. 1 am going to sign Wilbur Johnstone to a contract for be has a good arm aiul thew the ball at fast pace and all he needs Is lots of prctice.lt is my Intention to use him as much us I possibly can In order to give him practice. He is young and a student at the high school and experience is all he needs. If iu some games our team runs up a big lead, I intend to put him in and have him pitch. By that way we will always have a good pitcher iu the future to depend on instead of worrying my head off as has been In the past when I could not think of who and where can I get a good pitcher.
