Hay of Sams Valle> as t'otiniy Judge in place of Earl H. Fehl. convicted anil sen fenced to font years in the penitentiary for complicity in the ballot robbery last spring, were filed yesterday with the county clerk. Mr. Day at once took tip his new duties and acted as chairman of tin County Court at their meeting yeaerday. This paper has opposed Ihe policies of the late judge. We have said many things about him and his attitude towards other county officials But. now it Is all over we shall do our host to forget him Peace to his ashes. \\’ i welcome our new County Judge. We feel very grateful to Governor Meier for appointing a man of Mr. Day’s calibre to the office. Mr. Day or Judge Day. as we must .learn to call him. is an ideal mail for the place. Ilehas proven himself a good public ser vant and is just the type of man we need to handle county affairs during the»,, trying times. Quiet, calm and a good student of pub lic matters. Judge Day will, in our opinion, he just the man to re store order and bring our county again to Its proud place In the state. Judge Day lias taken no part In Ihe recent upheaval. He will work cheerfully with his fellow members on the court and we feel assum'd peace and a real business administration Is starting The American pledges its support to Judge Day and Commissi > 11- ors Billings and Nealon We shall ever be ready to do what we can to help them to carry on their arduous ddutles. Hall to the new Day! ludge Karl B. Day yesterday issued the following statement "In accepting the appointment to the oftice of Jackson County Ju<lg'. with which 1 have been honored. I wish the public to know my attitude. "I appreciate the confidence shown me by Governor Meier and hy mv friends who asked for this appointment. To those who ap proached me on the subject I stated that I would accept on one con dition, namely. If they fell after careful analysis of the situation, that I would be acceptable to all the citizens of the county. T sincerely believe that every honest citizen has been distressed with the surraoll of the recent months and Is anxious to wipe the slate dean and forget the whole affair The present financial con dition of the county and schools is well known to everybody and only by loyal cooperation of all the communities and citizens of the county can we tiled the situation. With the support of all the varied inter ests Of the county, regardless of party politic* or community preju dices. Jackson county can again assume the proud position it once held in the state. . 1 am sure that I voice ihe sentiment of the two worthy commis sioners Mr Billiings and Mr. Nealon. when 1 say that w e will all work together: that we will give von our heat efforts towards an honest and efficient administration and that we will welcome the unselfish cooperation of everyone.
