Central Point TIMES U. S. . Poctoffice, Medford, Ore. 97501 VOLUME 1 NUMBER RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS A rtie Borreson, of Talent stoped by the TIMES office about two weeks ago and brought up the subject of “ The Right To Bear A rm s .“ A fter reading quite a bit on this subject, and doing a great deal of talking to others regarding this issue, many thoughts pass ed through my mind. Man from the tim e he came across the ocean to this great land, c a r ried his weapon for surviva l, eith er from starvation or attack of some power other than self. When our forefathers crossed the plains, it is a well known fact IF ie had not c a r ried a weapon for survival we would not be living in this glorious West. God gave man the mind and wisdom to build this weapon fo r his use, fo r his surviva l, just as He gave the men the mind to build these deadly weapons o f war. WHY should our Government condone such a law to take away our GUNS, our PROTECTION ag ainst danger in any form , when they are taking our dollars to build other weapons of war to k ill off our young men? It seems the m ajo rity does not want th is law, it being unconstitutional, therefore WHY, when the people elect the Government, should such a law even be considered. Our Presidents and other top lead e rs are heavily guarded at the expense of the tax payer. The late President Kennedy and the present, President, L.B . John son has openly disregarded the protection granted them, If this law is to give more protec tion to our leaders, I, 'o r one say the cost and e ffo rt of such a law is wasted. WHO IS BE HIND THIS LAW DISARMING THE PEOPLE IN OUR OWN- COUNTRY? E d- M nr* nare 3 col 3 5. THURSDAY, May 18,1967 10<?
