We may have to change this schedule io I can accompany Jim to Central Point to help with the paper. Anyway, the highlight of my week is the Free Childr en's Matinee on Saturday. We have three complete twO-hour showings starting at 11 ¡00 a . m. I don't imagine you can appreciate what its like to baby-sit over a 1,000 ranging from those who can barely make it into the theatre under their own power to those of the age who are starting to be aware of the op;>osite sex. These shows let out with just enough time to get ready for the evening shows both downtown and at the drive-in. I'm not cryin g. C entral Point. The proposed general fund expenditure has been set at $2, 393, 719. Voters w ill be asked to approve $1,188, 142 out- side the 6 per cent lim itation at a May 1 election. The proposed budget allows for six new teachers, placing 38 students in the mentally retarded program, a speech special ist for five days per week, three additional 66 passenger buses, repair and maintenance. The budget also includes m ainten ance and u tility costs of the new Junior High. The salary schedule was altered to enable the district to recruit and retain a good professional staff. The addition of more schools makes the cost of utilities, maintenance apd operations more expensive. A substantial increase in basic school support, additional fX A/ Advertisers & valuation and possible help from the county on bonds and in terest and state property tax offset should give the district be tween 3 to 5 m ill reduction. The budget consnittee made cuts that totaled $83,998. The September enrollment is expected to exceed 3600 or i an increase of more than 180 students. This means that more rooms, teachers, hooks, equipment and operational costs w ill add to the expense of maintaining an educational program. Budget committee members are: Chairman, V . J. Thums; Secretary, Dean Wilson; Bill Anhorn; H .S . Deuel; Jerry ' Fitzgerald; Leo Chelardi; Don Morrow; A l Thompson, and Paul Molloy. They are of the opinion that the proposed budget for School District No. 6 is in line with other school budgets in the county. Published March 16 G 23, 1967 that Freeman Mason.
