Mr. and M n . Bey er expressed grave concern regarding the new home struc ture Juat erected adjacent south of their home at Oregon and Cluggage Street«. They alao feel that their home ha« been devaluated greatly. Councilman Allen Wilke« cast the dissenting vote at the appointment of Sam Dawson, 904 S. Third Street, to »erve as a Planning Commission board member, replacing Fred Edens, East E Street, whoae term had expired. L. E. Ffrg, 510 E. California Street, was reappointed a Planning Commission board member. The house numbering plat was reviewed and discussed and referred to the Planning Com m lstion for recommendations. Building Inspector, Larry Mad den, Blackstone at East 'F' Street, has spent many hours, voluntarily, performing thi« numbering layout and platting service. FERC ELECTED C H A IR MAN OF PLANNING C O M M I SSION Local Planning Commission's new chairman, L .E . Ferg, was elected at the last week's meeting of the memben of the local recommendations board replacing Albert Heunen w ill remain on the board as a mem- ber. Harold Soballe, 711 E. Main Medford, was present at this meeting to present a request for a sone change for property he has recently purchased at Shaeffer Lane and Highway 238. He proposes to convert this property to commercial use. Commission members advised him to resubmit a more specific plan which they w ill at some future meeting prepare recommendations ap proving hi» plan to be present ed to the Council. Bob and Sally Beyer, North Oregon, owners of the his toric old home known a* the Nunan Home, were present upon the previous advl e of Mayor Bowman to state their opinion regarding erection of a new home south and adja cent to their home and the prospect of erection of duplex or m ultiple homes In that v i c in ity . They feel such type of structures obstruct their views, being situated so far forward along the street front as w ell as being situated so far for ward along the street front as w e ll as devaluating their pro perty greatly. They requested some form of restrictions be prepared, i f there should not be any this tim e, to further prevent erection of this type of structures in the vicinity of historic old homes in the community. Planning Com mission members prepared recommendations for an a - mendment to the present so iling ordinance that construc tion of m ultiple dwellings be prohibited in R 1 sones. M em ben Everett Ravenor and Sam Dawson presented dissen ting votes on this recommen dation, as they felt that the amendment should read "per m itted use" other than "pro h ib ited."
