The day will consist of sports, singing, speaking, tog eth er with an old-time picnic dinner and general good time. Seven near-by schools will join in the festivities. Eagle Point has set May 3 for a similar joliflcation. Principal W. O. Wheeler is working hard to enlist the in terest of every teach er and pupil to join Eagle Point in making the day a success. That we as Directors of the Central Point State Bank most sincerely regret the un timely death of Frank Hatfield who held the position of book keeper and cashier with this in stitution. and by his faithful services, painstaking and ac curate methods and genial good nature has won our confidence and esteem, making him a valua ble person in transaction of the business in connection with this Bank. The various schools o f Jack- son and Josephine counties in th e Ap plegate Valley will join in an all-day celebration. The Valley Pride Cream ery Association is back of th e move ment and will aid the schools in put ting the event through. The d ate set is May 24, a t Applegate. Plans are being perfected whereby the young teachers of th e teac h ers’ training classes in our high schools will have an opportunity to g e t first-hand information regarding rural s c h o o l problems and conditions. Some o f our best teachers in the rural schools will be assisted for a week by these young teachers, w ho may be given entire charge for one day while the regular teacher is making a study of methods a n d devices in another up-to-date school. The exchange of ideas will be of considerable assistance to the re g u lar teacher, th e practice teac h er will become b e tte r acquainted wi t h the real conditions in the rural school w here she will ultim ately teach, amt the children will undoubtedly enjoy the innovation. School District No. 24. Miss Alice Cromer, teacher, was recently added to the list of standard schools of Jackson county. The occasion was celebrated in a very appropriate manner by the Silk tlayrs for sale at Hull’s Community Club.
