I!) I t . The Olympic Society of the Talent high school is planning g reat things for tne Field Meet to be held at Talent May 14. A largo number of the schools of the second and third class will p a r ticipate. The schools th a t cannot a t tend in a body will send track teams. This is the first time in the history of the schools of Southern Oregon th a t such a m eet has been held and results cannot he predicted at this time, but from all indications some excellent records will he made, especiall. from the larger schools as Gold Hill, Phoenix, Talent, Jacksonville, and Central Point. The plan is to have an all-day pro gram of sports, picnic dinner witli b a r becue, and such other attractions as will tend to m ake the day one to be long rem embered. Suitable prizes will be offered to Ihe winning schools and competition is bound to lie close. The following list of sports will be held on May 14: There will be three classes of entries in which boys may enter, all will be based on the age of the boys a t the time of final contest May 14, 1914. ” A “ Class,—boys 12 y ears of age or under. As there sre about 190,000 school child ren in the state, it has been estim ated th a t each will be able to remove a t least 100 loose rocks from the road nearest their home, it will be equal in value to the efforts of a thousand men and will remove 1,900,(XX) o b s t r u c ti o n from the roads of the state.
