TIMBER LAND ACT JUNE 3, 1878. NOTICE FOR PUBLICATION. The Sale is Confirmed. .Judge Hanna has confirmed the sale of the Medford & Crater Lake railroad to Messrs. Estes and Stryker for $82,- 600, the amount bid a t the receiver's sale last week. Thus ends the final chapter in the history of an enterprise .that has been of brief duration and Bill Of trouble. Vale, M. & C. L. Ry. The confirmation of the sale, though not unexpected, is gratifying to every business man in Medford, and the price , received for the road is far in excess of what would have been realized had the receiver yielded to the popular clamor. The wisdom of Receiver Reddy’s course, once questioned, is now univer sally applauded, and in justice to those who protested against his refusal to accept the Dewing bid it must be said they were the first to admit their error. .Both Mayor Reddy and Manager Hafer of the Iowa Lumber & Box Co. have shown good judgment in handling this proposition for the benefit of the stock- ’ holders, and to their enterprise the stockholders are indebted for the extra : $20,060 received for the road. The work of construction will be commenced a t once, the tools and ma terial having arrived today. A man who was for many years roadmaster on an Oregon division of the S. P. has re signed and will take charge of the con struction, work on the Pacific & Eastern. He will be assisted by H. Jurgens of Medford. M. C. Smith, shop foreman for the S.
