chancellor of Germany, was elected
president of the reichsbank to suc
ceed Dr. Halm ar Schacht, whose vio

Doctor Luther is fifty-one years old.
His actual banking experience has
been limited, although he is recog
nized as a good administrator. H e
was finance minister of the German
republic in 1923.
