June 8, 1928 SIEII1I com IISEIIEI Pomona Grange Meets Pomona grange of Sherman county met at the Kent grange hall last Saturday, June 2, with a very large attendance presided over by Roy Tiller in the absence of W. S. Powell, worthy master. The meeting was the third Pomona held in Sherman county. The forenoon was taken up with a very interesting business session. Mrs. Cora Guyton was chosen as del egate from the Pomona to attend the state grange which met at Rainier this week. Fifteen new member? were admitted. At noon the tables werq spread witlr a bountiful feast that was enjoyed immensely by all present. After dinner an open meeting was held and the public invited to hear ex-Govern or Pierce give an address on farm equality. Followed by Mr. Koski of Ochoco grange, who gave a short talk on grange organization and by Mr. Schlegel who spoke concerning) grange life insurance. The business session was again re sumed at the close of the open meet ing. Mrs. Snipes of The Dalles gave a few suggestions for the good of the order. J. L. Davis of Kent grange, was appointed captain of a degree staff, to be chosen by him, to put on initiation work. Representatives were present from Kent, Shearer, Klondike and Harland View granges in Sherman county, some granges in Wasco county and a few from Prineville. The next meet ing of the Sherman county Pomona will be held at Klondike on Saturday, September 22. C. L. I reland Editor and Publisher ' A (.-^Town Talk Annual Family Round-Up The seventh annual Thomson Fam ily Round-up was held at DeMoss Springs June 3rd, with the usual pro gram of speeches, readings, greetings, etc. Fifty-seven members attended. The family has added three new mem bers to their number since last year, two by marriage and one by birth. The DeMoss Family spent a part of the afternopn with them; this be ing the first time they have been home on a Thompson Round-up day. A very enjoyable time was spent by all as they reviewed pioneer days, the elder members of both families being Sherman county pioneers. The De Moss Family sang “Sweet Oregon” a song known and loved all over the country. An added feature of the day, which was greatly enjoyed by all, was an old-time singing school led by Henry DeMoss and with a number of his old pupils before him. Claude J.
