number of farms In ths state of Wash­
ington increased by nearly 7000 In the
last five years sad the numlfer operat-_
ad by owners increased 7500, the farm
acreage dropped «84,48« seres, a re­

ures are preliminary and subject to
change, It was stated. *
Total farms in the state last year
were 784«7, of which 10,889 were oper
utod by owners and 11,048 by tenants.
Managers operated 985. The percent­
age operated by tenants was 18.8, as
compared with 18.7 In 1910.
The total farm acreage was 1X008,-
284 last ysar, as against 11,144,710 five
yean ago, aad the average acreage per
term, had shrunk from 189.8 to 171.1.
Farm values of the state decreased

terstate commerce committee voted to
report favorably the Gooding bin. pro­
hibiting railroads from charging more
tor short hauls than for long hauls of
freight over the sems routes. The

From and after this date the subscription price
of the Sherman County Observer will be One
Dollar per year when paid in advance. When not
so paid, the subscription rate will be Two Dol­
