when the American Legion aided

hospital at Boise, Idaho. His illness
is the result of being gassed and an
attack of influenza while across.
There are thousands of war vet
erans who today need attention and
for whom the American Legion, in
conjunction with the government
agencies, is trying to obtaip perma
nent cure. It is the continuation of
its Endeavor to aid disabled veteran:
and for the care of veterans’ orphans
that the American Legion endow
ment fund of $5,000,000 is being
established. Oregon is now working
to raise this state’s share of the
fund.
The Legion’s persistent effort

compensation to take care of himself.
Carlson has been unable to work
since 1920.
He tried vocational
training at Oregon Agricultural col
lege, but after six weeks was forced
to give it up. The Legion was ap
