The above is a photo of President Ccolidge sent by wire st that time and whieh was supplied to the Sherman County Observer for publication by the Meyer-Both news service to which service this office is a subscriber. , Large and varied experiments were made by the telephone company engineers following the successful demonstration of the system and machines that had been invented and used in the first trial last June. A photograph of President and Mrs. Coolidge, electrically trars- mitted, reached San Francisco Sunday in less than eight minute* elapsed time after the negative was placed on the sending machine at Washing ton. The photograph was sent 36-hundred miles, via New *York and Chicago, in the first cross continent test of the new system of electri cally transmitting pictures by Bell telephone engineers, over the wires of the American Telephone & Telegraph company. * Depicting Mr. and Mrs. Coolidge leaving the White House for church at 11 a. m., the printfreceived in San ' Franctsoo* was of such startling fidelity to detail and definition as to deceive ah eye unaided by a microscope. — — —— , - ♦v1 / Tie item in last week’s Observer as to the return of Dorris Morrison to school after a siege of scarlet fever whs not correct in all essentials. The main essential fact was that the family had gonu to the trouble of stcuring a permit from the county health officer after an examination by him that the little girl was free of t le disease germs. Call Upon Us Twelve women on a jury in Circuit Judge Roisman’s court nt Portland last week agreed upon a verdict favoring Mrs. Donna M. English in the suit brought against her by Lil lian Carnes, who sought ten thousand ddRars damages for alleged injuries received while riding as a guest in Judge Rossman the English cari complimented Lis jury" upon the “Twelve women prompt decision. uannimously agreed?” he asked dubiously. Room Size and Smaller Lineoleum Rugs and Congoleum Rugs Employees of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company are having quite a blow out in Moro this week. The company ia rebuilding ita lines in this city by p’acing its wires in alleys of blocks that have enough customers to justify the expenss. Each hole dug for a pole requires not less than four sticks of dynamite to loosen the rock. The company is also resetting some of the poles on main streets of the city as well as building the new alley lines. The stove used for heating purpoees in the Urquhart millinery shop took a tumble last Friday shortly after Mrs. Urquhart had placed a stief of wood upon the fire contained in the stove. She gave a wondering look at the prone stove and fire within, then summoned help. Within a very few minutes the stove wm again upon its legs, the pipe connected and fire blazing merrily with no damage to building and contents of the shop.- An incident fortunately safely passed. J.
