Morrow went to Wasco Friday morning to see her father, Henry Root, an early pioneer of that section of the country, who was report ed to be seriously ill. Sunday morn ing werd was received that Mr. Root had passed away during the night. Mr. Root has been sick for some time. Mrs. Morrow has the sympathy of all her friends. Contractors have begun to rock sur face the Sherman highway grade, start ing at the DeMoss cut-off. The in tention is to surface the new grade from DeMoss towards Wasco, and to complete that part first. This grade is now ready for surfacing as far as the Hugh Walker place, with the ex ception of a small section near the top of DeMoss bill.
