D e a r F o lk s ; December 12th, 1918. I am now stationed in London and w ill probably be here for five or six months, may be a year. They have put us out cm subsistence. Two and a h a lf dollars a day to live o r. We are staying a t the neatest lit t le hotel in the town. I t is on the Strand which is the same as Broadway, New York. I went to a dance in the Can non Hotel last night and met some of London’s beet people. I t was the first dance I have gone to for almost n year. . The Cannon Hotel is next to the largest in the c ity. The first night I waa hero I slept In the Law Courts building, i t is where the K ing does a ll his business a t the big tria ls . I feel quite honored since 1 had the privilege of sleeping in it. My old suit of dress blues are near ly worn out so I bought me a n one today. I t cost me $36 so I nearly broke now. I f you have any extra change you might send it over. 1 just m et a frien d who came over here w ith me and whom 1 havn’t seen since last January, so I w ill knock off and ta lk to him a lit t le .
