This quilt was beautifully pieced by Grand ma Wheat, 84 year« old and who waa handicapped by her crippled hands, and presented to Moro Red Cross. It w ill be auctioned next Saturday, Dec ember 21at, In front of the Roes' con fectionery at 8:90 p.m. C. G. Huis has consented to take charge of the auctioneer end and that is a guaran tee that it w ill reach an appreciative owner. Sheriff elect P. H. Buxton has ap pointed E. R. Hickson as his chief deputy and the Sherman county public may rest assured that with these two gentlemen in charge the important duties of the sheriff’s office w ill be in competent hands.lt Sheriff Buxton has experienced oonaiderable difficulty in securing a capable deputy, practically all the young men qualified for the position being in the service'of Uncle Sam, consequently he is to be con gratulated upon his success in pre vailing upon Mr. Hickson to under take the duties of the office. The new deputy is at present employed as assistant cashier in the Farmers* State Bank of Moro and is in every respect thoroughly equipped for the discharge of hia official duties in the sheriffs office. ’ b ' *, ■ „•» ’ iS A t thft annual meeting of the Moro Rod and Gun Club last week W. F. Hulery was elected president; Wm. Johnson, vice president; S.H.Arbuth- not, secretary and treasurer; D. J. McLachlan. H. O. Kunaman, N. J. Brad ley y, E. W. Thwing, executive committee, acitngg with the elected officers. A number of important changes were made in the by-laws and the annual dues increased to $1. per year. Meetings w ill be held on the 1st and 3d Fridays of each month from October to February inclusive and on the 1st Friday the other months of the year. The club iB now on a more solid basis than ever before has a new 860 automatic trap gun and money , in the treasury. The annual meeting ia the 1st Friday in Decem ber and members have 30 days from that date to pay their dues before be coming delinquent. __ — f ii . r «gj gg g ■ "" ' 8ay It and Prove It.
