Vintin, and M r. W illiam M . W alker, both of Grass Valley, ( w e re - married Thursday. January 20th. in Port land at the home of Mrs. M . E. Vintin, mother of the bride. Mrs. W alker has a large circle of ac quaintances in Sherman county, until lately being owner and manager of the Vintin Hotel at Grass Valley. The storm hit the Shaniko, branch a wallop last week when all train service .¿topped from Friday morning to Bunday after noon. Thursday the passenger train succeeded in reaching Shan iko without great trouble and was followed by a freight that had trouble enough for the two.. The next morning the passenger train engine was caught by a drift be tween Shaniko and W ilcox and could move neither way. A work 'train was sent out from The Dalles to help them and that had 42 hours continuous-work to free 1 the dine from the snow and ice - which had packed and the plows > attached to the engines had no . effect upon the obstructions.
