Terms gl.M) per year We have lo-en largely interested this week in a very handsome book of Denver building illustrations, showing the surprising extent to which Colorado ‘Portland Cement? has of late years t>een applied to building in that state, and one might never know how much of the home product is used but for such strong reminders as this Denver booklet, filled with pictures of the most beautiful buildings in that city, ho tels, library, churches,, business blocks, conrt house, state capitol; io fihort, all the fine buildings of the city, in or about the construc tion of which Colorado ‘Portland Cement’ and Colorado Plaster have been used. It is an attractive lesson for us, as we have right here in this co u n ty ,, inexhaustible supplies of the very same kind of materials the Portland Cement Co. are using in Colorado,to manufacture an article equal io every respect to that which our builders are importing from foreign countries at enormous ex pense annually, freights and tariffs added. A s Oregonians we point with pride to the upbuilding of our own beautiful Atlantis restored; but cannot hejp thinking that it would be far more profitable and credita ble to our Portland neighl>orH did they stimulate the production of home produced materials that so greatly enter into ’lie t onsff net inn o f their new ‘Rose City,’ instead of •o frequently suspending operstions ..................... . 75041 T w p . 9 8, R 17 E.
