In walling a well you should stop using rock about three feet from top of grouud, then begin with hard bricks and cement, using plenty ol cement bstween the bricks, also plastering the wall both inside and out with cement. Build the wall about one foot above the top of the ground, then cover the well with a planking, fitting them perfectly tight on the briok. Then with the pump closely fitted at the top, Dot so much as an ant can get into the well. W. Leonard , and wife were guests of Judge and Mrs Rudolf last week, and are now at J.C.Coys. Mrs. Leonard Is fearful lest she may have to return to California on account of her health. Hundreds of people have stopped at The Observer office this week to admire a stalk of oorn 12 feet high with ears higher up than a mans head. Bryant responded on the subjects of libra ries and the too frequent changing of teaobers.
