Bill Baum was present and he announced that it was alright with the school board to hold square dancing in the school gym The childrens first dance will be this Friday night from 7 to 9 p. m. The adults first dancing p arty will be Saturday October 14 from 8 to 12 p. m. The adults to each bring som ething for refreshm ents and each couple is expected to put in fifty cents which is turned over to the PTA fund. There was the m atter of finding chaperones for the children’s party, it was decided to let the children select their own chaperones for the fol lowing party. Rufus News Friends will be interested to note th at word from Mr. and Mrs. John P ark er states they have ex changed properties and are now living at 1218 W. 6th Ave. n Mesa, Arizona. They are hoping th a t the Arizona sunshine will improve the health of both. Sandy Zachary and Brenda Townsend came down from Pen dleton Saturday night to visit Sandy’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Zachary for a few hours. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Reid were here from The Dalles Tuesday on some private business. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Webb he managing editor of the Salem Statesm an, stopped in Moro Thursday for a few m inutes visit w ith Mr. and Mrs. Giles French. H arry Loggan and Robin God win, appraisers for the state tax commission stopped in Moro W ednesday while on th eir way to The Dalles from Bend. Ray Kelso stopped in Moro a few m inutes Tuesday while on his way home to Corvallis after a hunting trip at the L uther Davis ranch. The rest of the money raised last year for play ground equipm ent will be kept in the fund and w hen more is added, perhaps the group can buy some thing more expensive. It was brought out that each family should endeavor to get out another family to the PTA meetings, so the newcomers can get acquainted with the teachers. Roy Gaym an explained about the two new classrooms which will be added anil other changes to take place in the present school. He said a Troutdale firm got the bid and the building is to be done in five m onths from starting time. Hostesses selected for the November meeting were Mrs Sam Tsubota. Mrs. Bill Baum and Mrs. Leonard Jordan. The group went to the school gym w here Otto Peterson played two num bers on his guitar then Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baum. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gayman, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Peterson and Mr. and Mrs Mullins danced two square dance num bers for the crowds pleasure. Then two fold dances w ere played before the crowd went to the cafe teria to have pineapple upside gingerbread cake with whipped cream and coffee Hostesses for the evenng were Mrs Gayman, Mrs. Boh Byrd and Mrs. Bob Morris. The St. M ary’s Altar society is planning a food and coffee time next S aturday, Oct. 7 at Rufus Motel betw een 9 a m. and 4 p. m. This is the first time a bake sale has been tried in Rufus, and it will l>e a place for friends to meet over a cup of coffee and refresh m ents during the day.
