She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Eslinger. J. K. McKean, Irving Hart, T. Lester Johnson and Giles French of Sherman County and Harry Dutton, columnist for the Portland Reporter and an old Sherman Countian drove to Hart mountain Friday to attend the annual trek of the Order of the Antelope, dedicated to the con servation of the bodies of ante lope and the spirit of man. They returned Sunday by way of Frenchglen. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bernards and three small children moved into the Parry house last week, coming from Grass Valley. He is employed at the Sherman branch experiment station. Here briefly Monday evening were Mr. and Mrs. W illis Black, who stopped to see her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Giles French. Marion McKee and son, Gordon, were in town an hour or so Tues day when on a trip up to the Mc Kee farm east of Wasco. Gordon, 6’ 4” is on vacation from Kie- now’s. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Wallace did some driving around last week, going to W allowa county to visit relatives and through the mountains to Lewiston, Idaho, before turning south to Culdesac and Nez Perce, Idaho to visit two of his sisters. . Seventy members of the May family from John Day, Portland, Vancouver and Sherman county attended the family reunion at Sorosis park in The Dalles last Sunday. Mrs, Clara Boyer of John Day was the eldest at 75 and re mained for a visit with her sis ter, Mrs. Grace Zevely. Byron May’s small son, Kelly was the youngest May at 2*A months. Mr. and Mrs. W ily Knighten are back in Moro again after a cruise around the San Juan islands in Puget sound with their daughter Anajean and family and son Wily. Mrs. Elsie Jones is taking a vacation from work at the post- office. Next week when Tommy lays off they will go on a trip. JO U R N A L , MORO. OREGON F R I D A Y . The Elks lodge of The Dalles to which many Sherman Coun- tians belong w ill hold a meeting at Grass Valley September 23, the second in all time and earlier in the year than before. A class will be initiated at that time and entrants are now being listed. A small spray plane circled over Moro a couple of hours Thursday morning dropping huge drops of a liquid that smelled like diesel oil and probably contained DDT with lethal intent against the city’s thirty known mosqui toes.
