Mr. and Mrs. Clair Balzer drove to Ixmg Beach, Wash., last week end and came home w ith soma freshly dug clams straight from the ocean. Mike Mulick left Sunday for Passaic. New Jersey, to visit his m other who has been ill wit.i heart trouble for a few weekr. He will be gone two weeks. W illis Buxton a native of Moro Mrs. D. B Goss hud brain su r gery March 15 an 1 was in Good Sam aritan hospital for two week-, and for the past three weeks has been staying w ith her daughter, Mrs. Vince Powell at Dayton, Ore., while taking treatm ents each day in Portland. Goss was in Portland Friday to meet his daughter who came from Connecticut to visit h er m other, now’ staying with another daughter, Mrs. Powell in Yamhill County. The Dorcas Society of the Wasco Church of Christ met on W ednesday w ith Mrs. Je rry Bar nett for a 1:30 dessert luncheon. Mrs. Stanley Swett was cohostess. T hirteen m em bers and two visit ors. Mrs. Augusta Royse and Mrs. Lily McBee, were present. The ladies of the organization have been issued an invitation to visit the McKinley Indian C hildrens’ Home at Toppenish April 27. Those who are interest ed in m aking the trip are asked to contact either Mrs. Je rry Bar- nett or Mrs. William Jones for definite arrangem ents. The next m eeting will be May 10, with the place to be announced later. The silver dish offering was $7 94. Seven members from the Was co M. E. The secretary, Virginia Melzer, explained the ‘foodies* food sale” project, and hoped all would participate. Mrs. H arry VanGilder and her daughter in law, Mrs A rthur Van Gilder, drove to Portland last Tri- day, w here they attended a fam ily gathering in honor of the 82r.d birthday of the form er’s sister, Miss Mary Laidlaw. Others pre sent for the occasion were the honoree's brother and sister in law, Mr and Mrs W. J. Laidlaw. who flew from Fort W orth, T e:- as, for the celebration; another brother, Dr. A. Laidlaw, and 1 cousin, Miss Cora Laidlaw, both of whom live in Portland. Little Milton I^err, son cf Mr. and Mrs. Albert l»err, celebrated his first birthday April 12.
