That is common practice for some one always w ants more pay and some one w ants his good will so is willing to Introduce a bill for his increased salary. So far most of the increases have lieen far too large. There is, however, one group of public servants who have e a r ned a pay increase. That is the judges. It was only a few years ago that the state was concerned over the state of the judical dock et for the courts were far be hind with their cases and law yers were filing appeals because they could get three or four years delay by merely filing. Justice was iieing delayed. Then we arranged for some tem porary suprem e court help, put the circuit judges on a faster schedule until t<xlay the courts are almost abreast with the casts on hand The improvement has lieen marked and has taken a compar* atlvely short time.
