Mrs Frank Retu conducted the business m eeting while Mrs. McDonald acted as secretary in the absence of Mrs. Don Macnab. The March meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Frank Reid. Mrs. Allen Tom and Mrs. Joe Morris to give the lesson on yeast rolls. Mrs. David Reid of The Dalles was present lo show sln.es of her rc\ ent trip to England, Ireland and Waies which were enjoyed. The hostess served refreshm ents of cake, jel lo and coffee at the close of the meeting. Mrs. Holland Johnson accom panied by Mi's. Bill Huck left Sunday afternoon for l^a Grande where Mrs. Johnson is conducting her State Grange lecturer's school Monday and Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Harland McDon ald left Monday for Portland where they are boarding the State G range's tour to old Mexko. They expect to be gone three weeks. Mrs. McDonald's uncle and aunt are here to take care of Fleck Orchard Camp while the McDonald’s arc away. Mrs. Don Macnab came home from Dufur Saturday where she had been all week helping care for her m other Mrs. John Adding ton. Mrs. Addington is doing as well as can be expected, anil is up ami down. Last week was so n k e here. The crops are literally jum ping in growth and the stands of wheat seem so rank. A good many are spraying or having th eir fields sprayed for weeds at this time. All tho drillers ami equipm ent for the John Day dam moved away front Rufus, making Rufus seem rather quiet. Work is going right along on the new service station being built just east of Rufus. It may serve as a distributing plant also. Jerry Brackett has done some bulldozing work leveling land for John Mathieson, Win Roberts, anil broke up the old foundation of the old Christian church. Mr. and Mrs. Ixsonatxi Jordan took a crive last Sunday up to Heppner, then across country to Hermiston and return. Every thing looks so nice with all the new grow th at this time of year. Mr. anil Mrs. Carl Thompson were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harrison up at the m outh of the John Day river. Young Re ding and Je rry Mil ler took the Redding boat up the John Day river to the old mill site last Sunday.
