Mrs. Mollie McLachlan recent ly received word from Harry Mc Donald who is in the Veterans’ hospital at Roseburg, that he is feeling fine and appreciative of letters he received from Sherman county. Mrs. Greer invited friends in for a chicken dinner in honor of the occasion. After a few guessing games the guests enjoyed seeing the lovely gifts and the dainty lunch of cake and coffee served by the hostesses and several of the ladies. Chester Grabenhorst is here for a visit wfth his brother Henry and family, coming from Salem. I^arry Sayrs Is having a brief respite from the navy while on furlough between assignments. He is home for 22 days. 1 wish to thank each and every one who brought food to my home at the time when so many came to pay respects. 1 don’t believe there is a coun ty in the state where people are so kind, generous and thoughtful as they are in Sherman county. Some who were from other parts of the state were amazed at such a bounteous supply of food and I thank all those kind ladies who helped to serve the people.
